About Mount Kilimanjaro
Mount Kilimanjaro, standing at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet), is Africa's highest peak and the world's tallest free-standing mountain. Located in northern Tanzania, this dormant volcano offers one of the most accessible high-altitude climbs in the world.
What makes Kilimanjaro unique is that you can reach the summit without technical climbing skills or mountaineering equipment. However, it requires excellent physical fitness, proper acclimatization, and determination.
The mountain features five distinct climate zones: cultivated land, rainforest, heath and moorland, alpine desert, and arctic summit. Each zone offers unique landscapes and challenges, making the journey as rewarding as reaching the summit.

Popular Climbing Routes
Marangu Route (5-6 Days)
Known as the "Coca-Cola Route," this is the only route with hut accommodations. It's the shortest but also the steepest, with a lower success rate (~60-70%) due to rapid ascent. Best for those with limited time.
- • Hut accommodations (no camping)
- • Shortest route (5-6 days)
- • Steeper ascent, less acclimatization time
Machame Route (6-7 Days)
The "Whiskey Route" is one of the most popular and scenic routes. It offers better acclimatization with a "climb high, sleep low" approach, resulting in higher success rates (~85-90%).
- • Camping accommodations
- • Excellent acclimatization
- • Stunning scenery and varied landscapes
Lemosho Route (7-8 Days)
Considered one of the best routes for acclimatization and success rates (~90-95%). It starts from the west and offers beautiful scenery with fewer crowds in the early days.
- • Highest success rate
- • Less crowded, more remote
- • Longer duration for better acclimatization
Rongai Route (6-7 Days)
The only route approaching from the north (Kenya side). It's less crowded and offers a more gradual ascent, making it good for less experienced climbers.
- • Less crowded route
- • More gradual ascent
- • Good for first-time climbers
